On Thursday, March 2nd, the Antetokounmpo Brothers (Giannis, Thanasis, Kostas, and Alex) all bought into Nashville FC, the MLS soccer club. They were founded in 2017, but began playing in 2020.

Giannis and his brothers have joined the company of  Reese Witherspoon, her husband, Jim Toth, who is a media and technology investor, and Titans running back Derrick Henry. Filip Forsberg, a Nashville Predators star, also bought in with Giannis and his brothers.

When Giannis was asked about this, he said, “My father was a professional soccer player, and it was the first sport I fell in love with in Greece, I’ve always had the dream of owning a soccer team. When my brothers and I explored Nashville SC, we knew it was a team and a city that we wanted to get involved with. I couldn’t be more excited to join the Boys in Gold, and can’t wait to come to a match at Geodis Park soon!”

The principal owner, John Ingram, made a statement in which he explained the reasons behind this purchase. He talked about how soccer is a global sport and how having them makes the team a “global team.” He also stated, “Filip and Giannis are not just amazing athletes — they are ambassadors for their respective sports, role models for millions, and advocates in their hometowns and worldwide. We share a common belief that our teams not only play to the highest standards, but also lift up their communities and help those who need it most.”

Giannis is a great face to have associated with Nashville FC, with him being a face of the NBA already. He is a 2x MVP, 1x DPOY, 1x FMVP, 7x All-Star, 6x All-NBA, and a member of the 75th Anniversary Team.

Therefore, this is an exciting moment in the history of Nashville FC, and adding such a famous face that is known worldwide will help this new and thrilling team become something big.
