Recently, a series of earthquakes have tormented the regions of Turkey and Syria and have caused a tremendous loss of life. The earthquakes that struck on Feb 6, magnitude 7.8 and 7.6, were followed by multiple aftershocks and have killed more than 44,218 people, also leaving millions without a home.

How can we help?

Simple donations can be made to organizations that are aiding the rescue and recovery efforts in Turkey and Syria. Organizations such as:

UNICEF, also known as The United Nations Children’s Emergency Fund, is an organization in Syria that prioritizes water, sanitation, nutrition and hygiene and helping unaccompanied children find their families.

Global Giving is a nonprofit that supports other nonprofits by connecting them to donors and companies to help provide food, shelter and medicine among other necessities as is currently needed in Turkey and Syria and is currently accepting donations at www.globalgiving.org .

The Syrian American Medical Society is a global medical relief organization that is working on the front lines of crisis relief and other neighboring countries to alleviate suffering and is accepting donations to help the victims of the earthquakes at www.sams-usa.net.

OXFAM is an organization that provides lifesaving support in times of crisis and is working with cooperatives in Turkey to determine a long-term response plan. They are accepting donations at www.oxfamamerica.org.

The International Federation of the Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies is a worldwide humanitarian aid organization that is currently accepting donations for its Disaster Response Emergency Fund to send assistance and are accepting donations at https://donation.ifrc.org/?campaign=3f5f91aa-e8da-e911-80e2-0050560100a8.
