Top 5 Most HATED NBA Players

Braxton Groce, Sports Editor

What makes a player “hated”? Some say it is how much they talk, others will say it is how dirty of a player they are, and people say it is their ego. Well, it is a combination of all that makes players truly hated. In this article these players will be ranked by how hated they are by fans to find THE most HATED player in the NBA.

#5: Draymond Green

When it comes to hated players in the NBA, Draymond Green comes to most peoples’ mind. Green is very aggressive and vocal on the court. If you are a teammate of Green, you’ll love having him on your team (unless you are Jordan Poole) with his leadership capabilities. His defensive energy makes him a pest to opposing teams, and when he talks trash a fight is almost inevitable.

#4: Russell Westbrook

Russell Westbrook (West”brick”) is hated by a lot of fanbases for his “stat-padding” style of play. He has been called out for his lack of shooting ability and his horrible leadership. He also gives minimal effort on defense throughout most games. He has a huge ego and turns the ball over more than most players.

#3: Grayson Allen

When it comes to Grayson Allen, he is known for his extremely dirty plays. He has been hated by all basketball fans ever since his days in Duke. If you hear about a player tripping another, there is a very high chance that Allen is the culprit.

#2: Patrick Beverley

Patrick Beverley is the definition of annoying. He will complain every time that he thinks that he has been fouled, throw some of the biggest temper tantrums, be the most dramatic person on the court, and then he will end the game with next to no points. People make the argument that he’s a good defender. Sorry to break the news, but he is not. He just rounds around the court being annoying and calling it defense.

#1: Dillon Brooks

Memphis’ very own Dillon Brooks has recently emerged as the most hated player in the current day NBA. The only people that like him are some Grizzlies fans and people that like gritty and physical players. He is the definition of a defensive pest, and his mouth makes him even more of a problem to other teams. Especially after his recent suspension, from his encounter with Donovan Mitchell, he now holds the glorious title as the most hated NBA player.

One cannot talk about hated NBA players without talking about “Ice Trae” Young. He crowned himself as New York’s villain after defeating them in the playoffs a couple years ago, where fans in the streets and the stadium chanted “F—- Trae Young!” He is not hated by a ton of fanbases, but he is by far the most hated man in New York.
