Most of us know the timeless classic by Whitney Houston titled “Where Do Broken Hearts Go?” As the title suggests, Houston tries to discover how broken hearts recover from their brokenness and somehow find love again. The song is extra special now, as Valentine’s Day is right around the corner.

Not to be pessimistic, but this situation might be you. Perhaps, someone breaks your heart on this love-filled day.

If this happens, this is your guide to getting over your broken heart and finding the love you deserve.

First off, one of the most effective strategies to heal a broken heart is to listen to your favorite music. In case you could not tell, one of my favorite artists is Whitney Houston. Of course, “Where Do Broken Hearts Go?” is an epic song, but there are so many of her songs that I could listen to nonstop.

So, whoever your favorite musical artists or groups are, compile their songs, and just jam! Music truly soothes the soul, especially in times of loneliness. Don’t hesitate to have a party for yourself!

Another strategy is watching your favorite movie or binge watching your favorite show. If you are anything like me, Ginny and Georgia will be the only show on your screen for hours. Everyone is different, though. Make sure that whatever you watch is what truly gives you joy and happiness!

The final strategy is to indulge in your favorite comfort snacks/meals. Whether that’s popping yourself some popcorn for a movie or eating from a tub of ice cream, filling your stomach makes the heart well.

As cliché as this advice may sound, they have worked (at least for me). Maybe you decide to use them, or maybe you don’t. At the end of the day, however, you deserve love and happiness! If you do not get it from another person, you should at least get it from yourself!

Good luck, and I hope you have an amazing Valentine’s Day this year!
