ALHAMBRA, CA — A California Highway Patrol chase that began on the 10 Freeway ended in a violent crash in Alhambra Tuesday afternoon after the driver of a reportedly stolen silver Toyota lost control near the Hellman Avenue exit.

The pursuit stretched across multiple Southland counties before coming to an end around 2 p.m. Officers said the suspect reached speeds of up to 90 mph while CHP units followed closely behind. After the crash, the driver got out of the vehicle, obeyed officers’ commands and was arrested without further incident.

Chase began on the 10 Freeway in Ontario

According to CHP, officers were pursuing the vehicle on the 10 Freeway in Ontario when the chase began moving through the region. The silver Toyota was being tracked as a reportedly stolen vehicle, though authorities have not yet said how it was stolen or when the theft may have occurred.

Driver hit speeds of 90 mph before exiting at Hellman Avenue
