The Right That All Men Are Deprived Of: Volleyball

Braxton Groce and Carter Patterson

Everyone knows of the debate that woman should be allowed to play football and I agree with that statement. If they have the skill and can play, they should. I am also in favor of an entirely new football league for women, if that is what is needed/desired. But there is an argument, a debate, that no one talks about. Men should be allowed to play on the school volleyball team. Or better yet, have their own team here at Collierville. School volleyball is a right that belongs to every young, ambitious, adolescent male. If you were to ask any man in existence if they wanted the opportunity to play competitive volleyball, every single one would absolutely oblige.

Volleyball is one of those sports in P.E. that young men try harder than anything at, like a football dad screaming at the TV during the Superbowl because he never got to live out his own childhood dreams of playing for the NFL. It is a burning desire to excel in volleyball, the number one P.E. sport. However, it could be so much more for us guys. It could be a way of life, daily practice, a real, interactive sport in which we get to take part. It feels as though someone is behind the curtains, pulling the strings, preventing us from pursuing our dreams.

Here at Collierville us men have been stricken of our right to play volleyball, and it is preposterous. There is absolutely no reason men should not be allowed volleyball, and we will not stand for it any longer!
