Mark your calendars, because the big school musical this year has been selected and cast, and it’s looking like we’re in for a good show this year. Collierville School’s rendition of Dirty Rotten Scoundrels will be arriving on the stage in early March, and while this excites many theater lovers, there are some people who have never heard of Dirty Rotten Scoundrels or what it contains. So, if you’re on the fence about going and seeing it because you don’t know if it’s something you’d enjoy, then read this quick overview to help you decide.
Dirty Rotten Scoundrels is an engaging comedy, filled to the brim with sleazy con men, daring bets, compelling dance numbers, and silly songs. If it’s a good laugh you’re looking for, you won’t have to search much farther, as it is chock full of humorous and goofy moments. However, a majority of the humor might not be suitable for kids, so it might be a good idea to get a babysitter for Little Timmy.
If it’s an enthralling plot and shocking twists that you want, then you’ll also be satisfied. The story follows two morally skewered con men who both have only one thing on their mind: money. In an attempt to secure seniority over the other, the two place a daring bet for the small prize of $50K: to get a selected unsuspecting woman to fall in love with them. Over the course of the musical, we see the two men battle for this woman’s affections, and we watch the helpless woman slowly fall for both of them—or does she? I guess you’ll have to wait and see.
Hopefully, if you hadn’t made up your mind to come and watch it or not, this pushed you over the edge. Whether you have a love for theater, want to support the school, or just have nothing better to do, I encourage you to come see this musical. The cast and crew, as well as the directors, are all working very hard to give you guys a phenomenal show, so I promise, you will not regret coming out to see it.
