Many people are going all out for Halloween this year, and some trends are popping out more than others. Since the barbie movie just came out, you can expect to see western Barbies and roller-skating Barbies and Kens trick-or-treating this year. Any and all pink is necessary for Barbie, and make sure to tie in a western theme. However, if you want to go the retro route, bright neon colors and designs are a must, and of course roller-skates or rollerblades (its your choice!).
Similarly, there will probably be some people dressed as the Little Mermaid and Wednesday Addams thanks to the hit movie and series. To dress as the perfect Little Mermaid, I recommend purples, blues, and greens to tie in the look. A dress with a tail-like bottom is perfect, and adding seashell themed jewelry would be an amazing touch. With Wednesday Addams, go with black mesh tights and a black ruffle dress. Black combat boots would also match well. Don’t forget to put your hair up in braids to make them look similar!
Taylor Swift’s Eras Tour has had a giant impact on the world, and everybody dressed their best to see her. Halloween would be a great time to rewear what you wore to the concert. Or, if you haven’t had the chance to go, it would still be a fun idea for swifties. You could go as Taylor Swift herself and wear some of the outfits that she wears on the tour, or dress to fit your favorite era of hers.
If you want to stay away from this year’s trends, you can always go with some of the classics. For example, you and your friends could go as the characters from Scooby Doo! Fred, Shaggy, Daphne, Velma, and the iconic dog would be great costumes everybody would recognize! The perfect part is you can find most of the essential clothing items in your very own closet! Another classic is Harry Potter! You could go as “the boy who lived” himself or any of the other characters from the book series. Wizard robes, wands, and ties to match your Hogwarts House are a must!
This year don’t feel pressured to find the “perfect” costume. If you have an amazing idea, awesome! But, if you can’t think of anything, just stick to the things you like, and you’ll be all set. Remember to have fun, that’s the most important part!
