This month starts off the MLB postseason, with 12 teams making the postseason, this year will be one to watch. The first wildcard game would be Texas Rangers vs Tampa Bay Rays. Then the Toronto Blue Jays face the Minnesota Twins while the Arizona Diamondbacks go against the Milwaukee Brewers. And to finish it off, the day Miami Marlins face the Phillis’s at Citizens Bank Park. Those teams will be playing the best out of the 3 games series. The winner moves on to face one of the top two teams of each league.
Teams not having to be playing the wildcard games are automatically placed in the National/American Division Series game, where in that series there will be 5 games to be played to determines who moves on to the Champions Series. The only team not having to play the wildcard are the Houston Astros (90-72), Baltimore Orioles (101-61), Atlanta Braves (104-58), and Los Angeles Dodgers (100-62). Braves being the team with the best record for wins and losses this year. With their Venezuelan Outfield player, Ronald Acuña Jr., being one of the favorites in winning the 2023 Most Valuable Player award. He was the first MLB player to have 30 home runs and 60 stolen bases in a regular season this year. Having 30 games left he finished with 41 home runs and 73 stolen bases.
When all the wildcard games are finished there will be 8 teams left. Where they must play a best of 5 games. Being the first team to win 3 games advances to the League Championship series. There they play a best out of 7 game series at both team’s stadiums, the higher team will play more games at home. Then they move onto the World Series, which is the finals, and that decides the 2023 MLB Champions.
